- Matsushita Electric (Panasonic) establishes company to manufacture plasma display panels
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., best known by its Panasonic brand name, today announced that it will establish Matsushita Plasma Display Production Co., Ltd. (MPDP) on July 1, 2000. Located in Ibaraki City, Osaka, the new company will be Matsushita's PDP manufacturing base in Japan, producing PDP panel devices and assembling PDP television sets. - Panasonic launches new Viera series flat-panel TVs
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., best known for its Panasonic brand products, today announced that it will introduce 13 new flat-panel TV models in the Japanese market this autumn. Ranging from 50-inch to 14-inch diagonal screen sizes, the models to be introduced include plasma and LCD televisions with both high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) picture quality. The wide range of this line-up shows Panasonic's strong commitment to the fast-growing flat-panel TV business. - Plasmaco unveils Panasonic 60-inch diagonal HDTV plasma display prototype
Plasmaco, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., today unveiled a Panasonic 60-inch diagonal HDTV plasma display prototype at the Society for Information Display International Symposium. The Plasmaco display is the highest quality 60-inch plasma display in the world. In addition to its impressive size, the display boasts a striking image due to its high luminance of 450 cd/m2 at an attractive color temperature of 10,000 °K and a contrast ratio of greater than 500:1. Bitzer, Distinguished University Research Professor of Computer Science at North Carolina State University, has been awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his efforts in advancing television technology. - Matsushita Electric Launches 42-inch Panasonic Wide-Screen
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., best known by its Panasonic brand name, today announced that it will introduce a 42-inch wide-screen plasma TV featuring the industry's highest luminance and contrast. The new plasma TV will be available in Japan from July 20 at a price of 1.1 million yen. - Pioneer introduces highly advanced 4th generation plasma TVs
Pioneer Corporation has announced today that it will introduce two new "PureVision" high-definition Plasma TV models in Japan, the 43-inch PDP-434HD in the middle of August, and the 50-inch PDP-504HD in late September, with the suggested retail prices of 850,000 yen and 1,100,000 yen, respectively.
